                   SONG TITLE: Johnny B. Goode
                 ARTIST/GROUP: Chuck Berry
                        ALBUM:
               TRANSCRIBED BY: qualitytabs@hotmail.com
   **********************************************************************

   CHORDS:
   -------
       EADGBE
Bb (688766) You don't really need these chords because you just
Eb (x6888x) play a blues shuffle, but if you wanna strum it for
F (x-8-10-10-10-x) some reason, these are the chords for it.

This is one of those songs that every guitarist must know. I've been
on my way to transcribe this song for weeks and I've finally done it.
I just got a program called SlowGold, which allows you to slow songs
down without changing the pitch. I've been playing around with it
and I even transcribed the solo in this song. If you want this program
you can find it at www.harmony-central.com It's in their
   Guitar Software section.
A quote from John Lennon: "If they had to rename Rock'n'Roll, they
might as well call it 'Chuck Berry' "

OK, before I start, I must say this. All the chords in the
song are played in a blues shuffle. For those of you who
don't know what that means, it means that the chords are
   always played like this:

      Bb Eb
   E|-------------------| E|-------------------|
   B|-------------------| B|-------------------|
   G|-------------------| G|-------------------|
   D|-------------------| D|-8-8-10-8-8-8-10-8-|
   A|-8-8-10-8-8-8-10-8-| A|-6-6-6--6-6-6-6--6-|
   E|-6-6-6--6-6-6-6--6-| E|-------------------|

      F
   E|-------------------------|
   B|-------------------------| h = hammer-on
   G|-------------------------| / = slide up
   D|-10-10-12-10-10-10-12-10-| b = bend note
   A|-8--8--8--8--8--8--8--8--| r = release bend
E|-------------------------| () = means note is barely heard,
play it if you want, or skip
it if you don't like it...

   VERSE 1:
   --------
        Bb
Deep down in Louisiana close to New Orleans

Way back up in the woods among the evergreens
         Eb
There stood a log cabin made of earth and wood
         Bb
Where lived a country boy named Johnny B. Goode
       F
Who never ever learned to read or write so well
                Bb
But he could play the guitar just like a ringin' a bell

   CHORUS:
   -------
           Bb
   E|-----------------------------------------------------------
   B|----------9--9--9--9-11---------------------9--9--9--9-11--

VERSE 2: [play like verse 1]
   --------
He used to carry his guitar in a gunny sack
Go sit beneath the tree by the railroad track
Old engineers would see him sittin' in the shade
Strummin' with the rhythm that the drivers made
When people passin' by they would stop and say:
"Oh mama that little country boy could play"

   CHORUS:

   GUITAR-SOLO:

Don't expect this to be a 100% accurate. It's pretty accurate though.
